Jon Bon Jovi has announced he’s “fully recovered” from vocal cord surgery and he’s ready to hit the road with Bon Jovi next month.

Jon Bon Jovi had previously been battling voice issues for several years, and he told fans in February 2024 that he was recovering from surgery for an atrophied vocal cord.

In June 2025, Bon Jovi performed their first full concert in over three years at the Marathon Music Works venue in Nashville, Tennessee in front of just 1,500 lucky fans.

Following the intimate comeback gig, the band announced their live return this summer including a New York Madison Square Garden residency throughout July, outdoor shows in Edinburgh and Dublin in August, and a three-night London Wembley Stadium residency in September.

Reflecting on his vocal cord issues in a new People interview, Jon said: “I’d often joked and said the only thing that’s ever been up my nose was my finger. I never did anything to hurt the cords; I didn’t have any excesses. I’m a trained vocalist. I’ve practiced the craft.

“So when a doctor had to explain to me that one of the cords was literally atrophying, it was confusing.”

Thankfully, after a lot of hard work with vocal coaches, 64-year-old Jon is now proud to confirm “I’m fully recovered.”

“It was longer than I’d ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith,” he adds.

Jon went on to praise his bandmates David Bryan, Everett Bradley, Hugh McDonald, John Shanks, Tico Torres and Phil X for their patience while he was on the sidelines.

“They never doubted me and never looked for work or decided to retire. The sacrifices that each one of them have made to be there for me is on a whole ’nother level,” Jon enthused.

“They said, ‘No, we’re with you.’ Every day of every rehearsal they were there with me. My love for them has only deepened.”

Bon Jovi’s first Madison Square concert takes place on Tuesday 7th July.
