Mike Tindall’s unconventional way he asked Zara Tindall to marry him

Mike Tindall asked his now-wife Zara Tindall for her hand in marriage back in 2010, with the now-happily married couple officially tying the knot on this day 15 years ago. Zara and Mike, who are now proud parents of three young children, tied the knot on July 30, 2011.
Their wedding took place in Scotland, just three months after Prince William and Princess Catherine wed in London. Their engagement, which was publicly revealed in December 2010, took place at their home whilst, according to Mike, Zara was “watching television downstairs”.
He previously told the Daily Mail. “It was all about shock value. I wanted to catch her when it was quiet, and she wasn’t expecting anything.”
The former rugby professional revealed that he just walked into his wife and got down on one knee.
Speaking to the publication about their proposal, he added: “She started laughing. She was in complete shock. Then, when she stopped laughing, she said yes. That was a relief.”
He revealed that he had been planning the proposal for a while, but that other family members – including Prince William – got to it first.
“My brother got engaged, and so did a certain Duke of Cambridge,” Mike added, “I thought I’d better get on with it.”

Their wedding took place at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, with the reception then held at the late Queen’s official Scottish residence, Hollyrood Palace.
The couple then went on to welcome their first child, a daughter named Mia, in January 2014.
Zara and Mike then later welcomed a second daughter, Lena, in 2018, before the royal gave birth to their son, Lucas, in 2021.
