Rod Stewart proved he’s still a powerhouse performer at 81, taking the stage for a high-profile charity benefit in the Hamptons just weeks after a series of health issues forced him to cancel and postpone several concerts.

The rock legend headlined a fundraising event for Steven Van Zandt’s TeachRock Foundation at a luxury estate in Southampton, New York. Stewart treated guests to a 90-minute set packed with classics including “The First Cut Is the Deepest,” “Have I Told You Lately,” and “Forever Young,” drawing enthusiastic praise from attendees.

Guests at the event said Stewart looked remarkably energetic throughout the evening, dancing across the stage and showing little sign of the health setbacks that had sparked concern among fans earlier this summer. One attendee described him as being “in better shape than men half his age,” while others praised both his vocals and stage presence.

Stewart recently canceled and postponed several performances after being diagnosed with an acute upper respiratory infection and laryngitis. He also made headlines after briefly using an oxygen tank during a concert in Utah, though altitude was believed to have contributed to the issue. His latest appearance suggested the legendary singer has made a strong recovery.

The benefit raised approximately $1.7 million for TeachRock, a nonprofit organization that promotes music education in schools. Stewart reportedly performed free of charge and shared the stage with Steven Van Zandt for special performances of “We’re Having a Party” and “Stay With Me.”

Stewart said supporting music education remains deeply personal to him, explaining that music gave him direction as a young man and expressing pride in helping inspire future generations through the charity’s mission. With his return to the stage receiving rave reviews, fans now appear reassured that the music icon is back in top form as he continues his 2026 tour.
