An Israeli survivor of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack has reportedly taken his own life on the grave of his girlfriend who was murdered by the terror group.
The body of Bar Asraf, 30, was found on Saturday evening at the burial site of his slain girlfriend Liron Barda, almost three years after her death at the Nova Festival massacre, according to Israeli news site JFeed.
Asraf was found with a gunshot wound to the chest at the cemetery in Elkana in the West Bank — and despite emergency medical teams being called he was pronounced dead, the outlet reported.
The grief had consumed him following the heinous murder of Barda, 26, at the hands of Hamas terrorists who stormed the music festival close to the Gaza Strip, slaughtering 378 innocent people.
He had reportedly stayed close to Barda’s family, frequently visiting her parents and honoring her memory, according to French-Jewish activist Jérémy Benhaïm, who shared the news of Asraf’s death in a post on
Barda, who had been working as a bartender at the festival, refused to leave when the Palestinian terror group attacked, and stayed behind to care for the wounded, the Times of Israel previously reported.
Footage of Barda’s final moments showed her treating injured partygoers.
“I spoke to her that morning, I asked her to leave the area — she refused, she said there were wounded people and she was staying,” her father, Avi, told Israel Hayom.
“This was Liron — I would have been surprised if she agreed to flee.”
Asraf’s death comes less than a year after another Oct. 7, 2023, survivor committed suicide by gruesomely setting himself on fire.
Roei Shalev, 28, was found dead in a burning car on a highway exit near Netanya in October 2025, two years after he witnessed his girlfriend’s execution at the hands of Hamas.
“I’m truly sorry. I can’t bear this pain any longer,” he wrote in a heartbreaking final message.
In April 2024, it was reported that nearly 50 Nova Festival survivors had died by suicide in the six months following the massacre.
