Princess Eugenie has welcomed her third child with her husband Jack Brooksbank in Portugal. On Tuesday, Eugenie took to social media to confirm she has given birth to a daughter on Monday. She did not confirm her daughter’s name.

The new baby is 15th in line to the throne, pushing the Duke of Edinburgh back to 16th place. Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are already parents to two sons, August and Ernest Brooksbank.

Eugenie, sharing a photograph of the baby in a pink babygrow and a newborn hat holding Jack’s finger, wrote: “Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie.”

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Princess Eugenie gave birth to a daughter at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, on Monday evening. A statement from the Palace read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.”

The Brooksbank family currently split their time between the UK and Portugal, as Jack works with property tycoon Mike Meldman on a luxury coastal development, the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.

Ever since the birth of her first son, August Philip Hawke, in 2021, Eugenie has continued her mother’s tradition of naming her children after Queen Victoria’s relatives.

Princess Beatrice was the name of the Queen’s youngest daughter with Prince Albert, and all three of Eugenie’s names (Eugenie Victoria Helena) follow the same trend.

The princess carried on this trend when she became a mother. The name August was one of the names of Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, as he was christened as Franz Albert August Karl Emanuel.

The same went for Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank’s arrival in 2023. Ernest was the first name of Queen Victoria’s brother-in-law, Duke Ernest of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. The unique name also appears in the full names of everyone from Prince Alfred to King George V.

Ernest was also named after Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather, King George V, and Jack’s late father, Jack. Ronnie, meanwhile, was the nickname of Sarah Ferguson’s father, Major Ronald Ferguson.

Eugenie wrote at the time of her second son’s birth: “Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, on 30th May 2023 at 8.49, weighing 7.1lbs. He is named after his great-great-great-grandfather, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald. Augie is loving being a big brother already.”

The Princess has kept a low profile this year ever since the scandal involving her parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, flared up over their ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein

Princess Eugenie ‘s last public appearance came in June to attend the wedding of her cousin, Peter Phillips, to Harriet Sperling in the Cotswolds. She was joined by her sister, Princess Beatrice, and their two husbands.
