Toddler, 2, dies in hot car at beach after being ‘left by babysitter’ as cops issue urgent warning
A TWO-year-old child has died inside a hot car at a beach parking lot in Florida after allegedly being left alone by their babysitter.
Local cops issued an urgent warning following the tragic death in Hallandale Beach on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services arrived at the scene around 1:35pm local time after receiving a report of the child being left inside a car.
The tot was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away upon arrival.
It is currently unclear where exactly the car was parked.
Local police claimed the child was being looked after by a babysitter when they were left in the vehicle.
Authorities have launched an investigation which is still “in its preliminary stages”.
They said: “This is a heartbreaking loss, and our thoughts are with the child’s family, and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
Cops then warned: “We also want to use this moment to remind every parent, guardian, and caregiver in our community: always check the back seat before locking your vehicle and walking away.
“Temperatures inside a parked car can climb to dangerous levels within minutes, even on days that don’t feel especially hot. One last look before you shut the door can save a child’s life.”
At least 31 children died in hot cars in 2025, according to the National Safety Council, who also said at least nine have died this year.
About 37 children younger than 15 years old die of heatstroke every year after being left inside hot vehicles.
Last week, a toddler tragically died after his dad after his dad allegedly left him inside a hot car in Florida.
The father mistakenly thought he had dropped his 18-month-old son off to daycare, only to make the horrific discovery hours later, reports say.
In July last year, a one-year-old boy died after being left in a warming car while his mom went to a med spa.
His two-year-old brother, also left strapped in the backseat, survived the blazing heat in Bakersfield California.
Their mother, 20-year-old Maya Hernandez, allegedly left both toddlers locked inside her Toyota Corolla Hybrid.
She had gone to Always Beautiful Med Spa for a cosmetic procedure, according to local NBC news affiliate KGET.
