King Charles has been supported by members of his family following the death of his second cousin, King Harald of Norway, on Friday.

The royal is still in Scotland for his summer break, and thankfully he still had members of his family around him for support. Among the royals seen with the monarch were his sister, Princess Anne and his younger brother, Prince Edward.

Edward’s wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh was also seen alongside their children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex, while Princess Anne’s husband, Sir Timothy Laurence was spotted with the family.

Just like last week, James was seen at the wheel of a Range Rover as he drove with his father, who was wearing a teal jumper to battle the cool Scottish weather.

Sir Timothy was seen wearing a beige coat as he drove off with a dog also seen in the rear of the car. Sophie was seen at the wheel with her daughter by her side, and the royal donned a pair of glasses to get to their destination.

King Harald died at 6:35am on 28 August at Rikshospitalet, and after news of his death broke, Charles shared a personal message on the royal family’s social media channels.

“It is with the most profound sadness that my wife and I have learned of the death of my dear cousin, King Harald V of Norway,” he said. “For thirty-five years, King Harald served his people with unwavering dedication, guiding Norway through times of great change with warmth and humility.

“As Norway mourns the loss of so towering a figure, my whole family join in remembering a much-loved kinsman and friend whose kindness, compassion and deep sense of duty echoed from across the sea and across the decades.”

Charles concluded: “The United Kingdom and Norway share particularly close historical and family ties, with Britain one of the first countries to recognise Norwegian independence and establish diplomatic relations in 1905.

These special bonds were even further strengthened during the dreadful trials of the Second World War and help to bind our two countries together.

“The Queen and I extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Queen Sonja and all her family, as Britain shares in Norway’s grief at this time of such heartbreaking loss.”
