In-N-Out Burger is honoring one of its employees who was killed during Saturday’s mass shooting at one of the company’s Idaho restaurants.

The California-based burger chain on Wednesday shared a memorial tribute to 23-year-old Ashley Garibay, an In-N-Out associate from Stockton who was among the three people killed when a gunman opened fire at the newly opened Twin Falls restaurant on Aug. 1.

“Our IN-N-OUT Family is heartbroken as we mourn the tragic loss of three innocent lives, one of them being our Associate, Ashley Garibay,” the company wrote in a statement shared on Instagram.

The company described Garibay as “more than an Associate,” saying she was a valued member of the In-N-Out family who embodied the company’s values and provided friendly service that left “a lasting impression on everyone she met.”

“We will remember Ashley as a beloved friend and teammate whose dedication, pride, and compassion will never be forgotten,” the statement continued. “We extend our deepest condolences to Ashley’s family, friends, loved ones, and fellow Associates during this incredibly difficult time.”

In-N-Out also said it is supporting Garibay’s family “in many ways that reflect their needs and wishes, while respecting their privacy.”

Garibay had worked for In-N-Out since getting her first job with the company and was part of a team that traveled to help train employees at newly opened locations. She was in Twin Falls helping staff the restaurant, which opened in late July, when the shooting occurred.

Her family previously described her as “an amazing, beautiful soul who loved living life,” saying she dreamed of one day managing her own In-N-Out restaurant.

Garibay was one of three people killed in the Aug. 1 shooting. The other victims were identified as Christopher Claunch, 59, of Hagerman, Idaho, who grew up in Canyon Country, California, and Dale Schultz, 66, of Salt Lake City.

Police said the suspected gunman, 24-year-old Chad Williams, acted alone before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An off-duty Idaho State Police trooper and an armed civilian returned fire during the attack, and investigators have not announced a motive.
