‘Family Comes First’: Philip Explains His Absence

Taking to Instagram, Philip shared a photograph with a family member alongside a personal statement apologising to those expecting to see him at the reunion.

He explained that his family had been going through an “extremely difficult and emotional time” following a bereavement.

Philip wrote:

“I would like to take a moment to personally apologise to everyone for not being able to attend the Big Brother Group Chat or Reunion. Unfortunately, due to a death in my family, we have been dealing with a very difficult and emotional time.

“Family comes first and I needed to take a step back from everything to be with my loved ones and deal with this personal loss. I hope you all understand that this was not a decision taken lightly and I am truly sorry.”

He also thanked those who had continued to support him, adding that their kindness meant a great deal during such a difficult period.

Philip ended his message with a request for privacy, asking people to respect his family’s wishes while they dealt with the loss.

“Sending love to you all, Queen Of Scotty Road.”

The messages reflected the affection many followers have developed for the Liverpool-born personality, whose larger-than-life character helped him attract attention long before his Big Brother appearance.

How The Queen Of Scotty Road Became A Viral Sensation

Philip first shot to wider internet fame in 2021 after a comedy video filmed in his local shop began circulating online.

The clip featured his now-famous line:

“Times are hard and friends are few – so ta-ra to you.”

Speaking to the Liverpool ECHO that year, Philip revealed that the catchphrase was never something he had deliberately created. It was simply an expression he had used for years.

“I don’t know where it came from as it’s just something I’ve always said. I say ‘ta-ra to you’ to my mates all the time.”

He also revealed some of his other familiar sayings, including “down there for dancing” and “I’ve been shopping – but not lifting.”

Explaining how the original video came about, Philip recalled asking someone behind the counter to film him while he picked up the cheapest vodka in the shop. After being accused of shoplifting, the moment turned into the viral clip that introduced him to a much wider audience.

The Queen of Scotty Road nickname, meanwhile, dates back to his early days drinking in local pubs. Over time, it became an identity closely associated with him.

The Liverpool Roots Behind His Famous Nickname

Beyond the humour and viral catchphrases, Philip has always maintained a strong connection to the area that gave him his nickname.

In 2007, he was among those who protested against the demolition of Skirving Place flats, just off Great Homer Street. The development held deep personal significance for him because he had lived there with his grandmother, whom he affectionately called his “Mam mam”.

His grandmother was particularly important in his life. She was the first person to move into the flats and, as Philip previously explained, the last woman to leave.

“She brought me up and I looked after my Mam mam until her dying days.”

He also spoke about another painful family chapter, revealing that shortly after his grandmother’s death, her son Valentine was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Philip said he cared for Valentine until he passed away.

His latest announcement has once again brought attention to the close family ties he has spoken about over the years.

For now, the Big Brother reunion will go ahead without him. Philip, however, has made his priorities clear: being with his family matters more than any television appearance.
