Why Robert Irwin Really Walked Away From I’m A Celebrity As Seven Unveils Shock New Hosting Line-Up
Robert Irwin may have moved on from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, but the reason behind his departure could be far more personal than his growing international career.
The 22-year-old wildlife conservationist has reportedly decided against returning to the Australian reality show, paving the way for Seven to introduce an entirely new hosting partnership. Yet, while his commitments in the United States have made another lengthy Australian production increasingly difficult, insiders suggest there was another important factor behind his decision: his close bond with former co-host Julia Morris.
At the 2027 Seven Upfronts, the network officially revealed that Ricki-Lee Coulter and Jim Jefferies would take over as the show’s new presenters.
Robert, meanwhile, appears to be entering an increasingly busy chapter of his career, with international television opportunities continuing to grow.
But according to sources familiar with the situation, his decision to walk away may have had as much to do with loyalty as professional ambition.

Robert Irwin’s Growing Career Made A Return More Difficult
Since stepping into the hosting role, Robert has become an increasingly recognisable television personality, building on his profile as a wildlife conservationist.
He previously replaced Chris Brown, who hosted earlier seasons of I’m A Celebrity, and quickly established himself in the jungle entertainment world.
However, his expanding commitments in the United States have reportedly made it harder to accommodate another extended Australian production.
His increasingly busy personal life has also attracted attention, with rumours of a private romance adding to speculation about what comes next for the 22-year-old.
Yet insiders believe those circumstances may only tell part of the story.

Julia Morris May Have Been The Missing Piece
Robert’s relationship with Julia Morris reportedly played a major role in his decision not to return.
The pair developed a particularly close working partnership during their time together, with Julia helping the young presenter navigate the demands of live television, comedy and entertainment.
“Robert absolutely adored working with Julia,” an insider revealed.
“She taught him so much about live entertainment, comedy and being a television host. They developed a really special relationship.”
According to the source, Robert had made it clear that he wasn’t interested in continuing with I’m A Celebrity without Julia by his side.
His international career may have offered plenty of reasons to move on, but the prospect of returning with a different co-host apparently wasn’t enough to convince him.
“There are obviously plenty of reasons why Robert might want to move on, especially with everything happening for him in America,” the insider explained.
“But I think the biggest thing is that he genuinely loved working with Julia. He wasn’t necessarily interested in recreating that experience with somebody else.”

Robert’s Emotional Message To Julia Says It All
There has also been a public reminder of just how much the partnership meant to Robert.
In a recent Instagram post, Julia shared behind-the-scenes photographs featuring herself, Robert and the production crew during filming in South Africa.
Robert responded with a short but affectionate message:
“The best of times.”
The comment offered a glimpse into the fond memories he appears to have taken away from their time working together.
Although Robert has yet to publicly address his successors, Julia has already welcomed the new hosting partnership.
Julia Morris Welcomes Ricki-Lee And Jim Jefferies
Following Seven’s announcement, Julia shared a promotional photograph of Ricki-Lee Coulter and Jim Jefferies, expressing her excitement for the pair as they prepare to take over the jungle.
“These two absolutely glorious humans are off to the job of a lifetime,” she wrote.
She also offered a playful nod to the show’s traditions, adding:
“The ceremonial Knobkerrie is in the best of hands. Love you both & can’t even BELIEVE the high levels of fun you are about to have!!!! South Africa, up around Limpopo… is paradise. Chookas for a brilliant series. Let’s go!!”
With Ricki-Lee and Jim preparing to lead the next chapter of I’m A Celebrity, the show is heading into a new era.
But if the insider claims are accurate, Robert’s departure wasn’t simply about career opportunities or a change of direction. Leaving behind a television partnership he genuinely treasured may have made the decision considerably more personal.
