Stephen Colbert has a blunt reaction to Trump’s new smartphone

It’s been around a decade since Donald Trump came down that escalator and changed the course of American history, and on Tuesday’s The Late Show, Stephen Colbert explained that the president’s Trump Organization “marked the occasion with a special anniversary grift.””Yesterday they announced a new cell phone service, Trump Mobile, featuring this $499 gaudy gold tele-bomination called the ‘T1 phone,’ which for some reason is in quotes on the website — possibly so they can have plausible deniability when your ‘T1 phone’ turns out to be a ‘foil-wrapped hash brown,'” says Colbert, referencing Trump’s new and apparently “made-in-America” smartphone.

“This Trump Mobile plan is bananas, supposedly coming with a ‘telehealth and pharmacy benefit’ which the press release typo-tastically describes as ’27/7 access to doctors’ […] ‘all from your own homw’.”

If you want to know more about the T1 phone itself and how it compares to the rest of the smartphone market, here’s a comparison with the iPhone 16.
