Did Prince William Just Take A Subtle Swipe At Prince Harry On The Graham Norton Show? A seemingly innocent exchange about royal titles has sparked speculation after William casually told Graham Norton to call him simply “William.” Royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths wondered whether the moment carried an indirect message about Harry’s continued use of his royal title — though William never mentioned his brother by name. Was it just a relaxed response, or was there more to the moment than meets the eye?

Did Prince William Take a Subtle Swipe at Prince Harry During His Graham Norton Appearance?

Prince William’s relaxed appearance on The Graham Norton Show has sparked speculation that a seemingly casual exchange about royal titles may have carried an indirect message about his younger brother, Prince Harry.

The Prince of Wales joined a star-studded line-up on the BBC chat show on Friday, where a lighthearted conversation with host Graham Norton prompted royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths to suggest there could have been more to the moment than met the eye.

A simple question sparks royal speculation

During the conversation, Norton asked William how he should address him in the setting of a celebrity chat show.

“For the purposes of chat show land, how do I refer to you?” the host asked.

William kept his response relaxed, replying, “Whatever suits.”

When Norton said he would simply call him “William,” the prince agreed, responding, “That’s good.” Norton then quipped, “The prince is silent.”

The brief exchange appeared friendly and informal, but Griffiths interpreted it as a possible reference to the way other members of the royal family use their titles.

Speaking about the moment, she said William came across as relatable. However, she wondered whether Norton’s question might have alluded to Prince Harry’s continued use of his royal title.

Griffiths also pointed to the titles associated with Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as those used by their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

“I don’t know if I am reading too much into it but I almost feel like that was a slight dig,” she said.

Her interpretation remains speculation; William did not explicitly mention Harry during the exchange.

William’s role in the Royal Family

As the eldest son of King Charles III, William is first in line to the British throne and is expected to succeed his father as monarch.

He and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, have three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Alongside his royal duties, William has championed numerous charitable and environmental causes. One of his most prominent initiatives is the Earthshot Prize, which he launched in October 2020.

The project aims to encourage and reward solutions to environmental challenges, with a ten-year timeframe for driving progress on some of the world’s most pressing environmental problems.

William’s informal television appearance offered viewers a glimpse of his more relaxed side. Yet a brief exchange about how he should be addressed has now prompted questions about whether his comments carried a deeper meaning — or whether the moment was simply a lighthearted conversation with a chat-show host.
