Prince William left Robert Irwin red-faced and hiding in the sofa cushions after delivering a cheeky remark that sent The Graham Norton Show into fits of laughter. During his surprise BBC appearance, William joined Cate Blanchett and Hannah Waddingham in teasing the 22-year-old conservationist after Graham Norton unveiled his viral Bonds underwear advert featuring a live python. Irwin tried to steer the conversation back to wildlife conservation, but the future King had one last joke up his sleeve. His perfectly timed six-word quip left Blanchett and Waddingham in stitches — and Irwin wishing he could disappear into the famous red sofa.

Prince William’s Cheeky Remark Leaves Robert Irwin Blushing on The Graham Norton Show

Prince William brought an unexpected dose of humour to BBC One’s The Graham Norton Show, leaving Australian wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin visibly embarrassed after a playful exchange about his underwear campaign took an amusing turn.

The Prince of Wales appeared on the popular chat show to discuss his global environmental initiative, the Earthshot Prize. Sharing the sofa with Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham and Irwin, William soon found himself at the centre of a light-hearted moment that overshadowed the planned conservation discussion.

The incident began when host Graham Norton brought up Irwin’s campaign for Australian clothing brand Bonds, which featured the 22-year-old posing in underwear alongside live reptiles.

Prince William Makes a Surprise Appearance

Several commenters highlighted the Prince's similarities to his late mother.

William’s first appearance on The Graham Norton Show was kept secret from the studio audience until he arrived on set approximately 11 minutes into the recording.

His unexpected entrance prompted astonished reactions and a lengthy standing ovation. Once seated, the future king quickly joined Norton’s informal conversation, appearing relaxed alongside the other guests and fellow Earthshot advocates.

The atmosphere became even more playful when Norton turned his attention to Irwin’s modelling campaign.

Irwin appeared to anticipate the embarrassment ahead, repeatedly protesting, “Oh no, no, no,” as Norton prepared to show the photographs.

William and Waddingham joined the audience in encouraging the host to reveal the images, chanting, “Show them!”

One photograph displayed Irwin outdoors wearing only a pair of Bonds briefs, with a live python draped around his neck. The wildlife conservationist immediately covered his face and exclaimed, “I can’t believe I’m looking at this with Prince William.”

The image prompted laughter across the studio, but the teasing was only getting started.

Cate Blanchett Joins the Banter

Robert Irwin was left blushing after a cheeky comment from the future King.

As Norton presented more photographs from the campaign, William offered his own assessment of one particularly revealing image of Irwin posing with the reptile.

“That’s a bit too much, that one,” the prince remarked.

Irwin attempted to explain that the campaign was intended to introduce wildlife and environmental issues to audiences who might not normally engage with conservation.

“I believe in bringing the message to an audience that might not ordinarily be interested in wildlife,” he explained, adding that the important thing was the snake featured in the photograph and the opportunity to showcase wildlife.

His explanation did little to stop the jokes. Blanchett, Irwin’s fellow Australian guest, playfully mimicked the campaign’s imagery, remarking, “I’m taking my snake for a walk.”

The exchange added another layer of humour to an already awkward moment for Irwin.

William’s Python Remark Leaves Irwin Hiding in the SofaThe prince shared his family's current television obsession.

Just as the conversation appeared to be moving on, Norton introduced another photograph showing Irwin handling a giant huntsman spider.

William then delivered the line that became the highlight of the segment.

Looking directly at Irwin, the prince remarked, “I’m still thinking about your python.”

The double entendre sent the studio into fits of laughter. Blanchett and Waddingham struggled to contain their amusement, while a thoroughly embarrassed Irwin buried his face in the sofa cushions in apparent surrender.

The moment offered a glimpse of William’s playful side, as he joined in the kind of irreverent humour that has made Norton’s celebrity interviews a television favourite.
