“WE JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO IAN…” — BODY OF MISSING VIRGINIA TEACHER FOUND MORE THAN A MONTH AFTER HE VANISHED ON SOLO HIKE IN PERU Ian Treger had traveled to Peru for what was meant to be a ten-day adventure through the Andes, sharing one final update with his family before leaving his Cusco accommodation for a solo hike. Then the messages stopped. For more than a month, his mother, friends and supporters searched across dangerous mountain terrain, clinging to every possible clue. But the search ended in heartbreak when the 29-year-old teacher was found near a small stream beside the trail he had planned to explore — with his backpack, phone, camera and wallet still nearby. The discovery may have ended the agonizing wait, but it has not answered the question now haunting his family: how did an experienced high-altitude hiker vanish so completely during what should have been an ordinary day on the mountain?
